The future of our places is shaped by the actions and decisions of the past and present generations. We are a product of our history. Every place has a story and a story still to be told.

As place directors we have a responsibility to actively shape the places of the future, to be mindful of our cultural heritage and past and the needs of future generations, while we make decisions today.

Our places are dynamic entities, multi-levelled and multifaceted, with physical form, identity and feel, giving many people a sense of belonging. Whether you live, work or visit a place, it all happens within a geographic space. So what do these spaces look like in the future? Engaging with the past and present is essential in planning our future. The ADEPT Autumn Conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on our past, our present and consider how we create our future places.
